The Lionel Rocket Car No. 6175 was designed as a companion car for use with the No. 175 Launch Pad.
This flat car with the rocket was available for separate sale from 1958 until 1961.
The tip of the rocket had a metal band that would allow it to be picked up by the magnetic lift of this accessory. At the tip of the missile is circular sponge pad that is rarely found intact, and the walls of the missile are thin and prone to cracking or other damage.
There are two GRAY racks that mount in the flat car’s stake holes and the missile was held in place by a No. 6418-9 elastic band.
Reproduction missiles, missile parts, racks, and elastic bands are available so collectors should watch for these. The original missiles are imprinted "U S NAVY" and "BUILT BY / LIONEL". Came with early AAR trucks with disc couplers.
There are four variations:
Variation A: RED No. 6511-2 chassis.
Variation B: BLACK No. 6511-2 chassis.
Variation C: RED No. 6424-11 chassis.
Variation D: BLACK No. 6424-11 chassis. |
