In 1950, Lionel produced a series of these gondolas for the purpose of demonstrating the virtues of Magnetraction and distributed them to dealers throughout the country. Fourteen of these cars were sent to each dealer, and these cars were pulled by a No. 2035 or a No. 2036 locomotive, and they came in the following colors: RED with WHITE letters, SILVER with BLACK lettering, and YELLOW with BLACK lettering. These cars all had late scout trucks with magnetic couplers. After the holiday season many of these dealers sold these cars. Today these variations are difficult to locate.
