The Lionel Columbia Type 2-4-2-Locomotive No. 1060 was shown in the advance catalog from 1960 until 1962. This Scout engine was unpainted, with a WHITE heat-stamped cab number, an improved plastic motor that went only in the forward direction, and was held in place by a knurled mounting pin. This locomotive is lighted and has a headlight lens. It came with a No. 1050T slope back, or a No. 1060T streamlined tender.

A modification to the original 1948 designed boiler occurred in 1961. Because it was prone to breakage the rain shield over the headlight was shortened. This accounts for the two variations:

Variation A: Has a long rain shield over the headlight. (1960-61)

Variation B: Has a short rain shield over the headlight. (1961-62)

This locomotive was designed to work on O27 track and it will also run on O gauge track.
