The Lionel Columbia Type 2-4-2 Locomotive No. 1061 was made with either a 0-4-0 or 2-4-2 wheel arrangement. This locomotive came with either a No. 1061T or No. 1062T slope back, or No. 1060T or No. 242T streamlined tender, and was available beginning with the advance catalog of 1963, the consumer catalog of 1964, and again in 1969. The slope back tenders were either unlettered, or inscribed "LIONEL LINES." This Scout engine was unpainted, with a WHITE heat-stamped cab number, a plastic motor that went only in the forward direction, and was held in place by a knurled mounting pin. Sometimes this engine is found with a traction tire. This locomotive is not lighted and does not have headlight lens. There are three variations:
Variation A: Has a WHITE heat-stamped number on the cab.
Variation B: Has no number on the cab. Relatively scarce.
Variation C: Issued with the number printed on a piece of paper that is glued to the cab. Very scarce issue from 1969.
This locomotive was designed to work on O27 Gauge track and it will also run on O Gauge track. |
