The Whistle Controller No. 147 was produced between 1961 and 1966. It used a D Size battery to deliver DC current for a horn or whistle with the use of a snap switch that held this voltage. This switch was easily broken.
When Lionel produced this controller for its HO scale production (No. 0147) it used a brass rotating wheel to hold the contact. Similar in appearance to this switch, the No. 0147 was a much more reliable switch.
There are no variations.
