The Lionel American Type 4-4-0 Locomotive No. 1862 is a nice replica of the famous Civil War "General." This locomotive was issued in 027 sets between 1959 and 1962, and it differed from its O Gauge No. 1872 counterpart in the following ways:
It has a two position directional unit
It did not have Magnetraction
It lacked a smoke unit
Some of the boiler details are missing
BLACK chassis, with GUNMETAL colored boiler, RED cab and GREEN No. 1862T tender labeled for the "Western and Atlantic Railroad." The 1959-60 production of this locomotive would have a RED lantern and the screw on the rear of the cab would be a small round head that protruded from the back. By 1960, Lionel would switch to a flat head screw that would be countersunk in plastic and it would not be as visible as the previous production.
There are two variations:
Variation A: Has a GRAY smoke stack.
Variation B: Has a BLACK smoke stack. |
