The D.L. & W. Work Caboose No. 2420 had a die-cast flat car frame, searchlight, hand rails, tool boxes, and ladder. This made for a labor intensive assembly, which was why Lionel would not produce this type of caboose after 1950 with all of these added details. There are four variations to this car that have to do with the style of the lettering on the car and the type of electronic coil couplers that were used. This car was made from 1946 until 1948.
