The New York Central No. X3474 was available beginning in 1949. This DULL ORANGE operating box car has WHITE heat-stamped lettering, and there are many minor variations of this car, including the types of trucks that were used. Early versions would have staple-end trucks, while later variations would have bar-end trucks with magnetic couplers. All versions of this car have BLACK doors. It was last produced in 1952, and the following year Lionel would issue the first of the 10-1/2" operating box cars beginning with the No. 3484.
