The United States Army Switcher No. 41 was created on an unpainted BLACK body with WHITE heat-stamped lettering printed "TRANSPORTATION CORPS" on the sides, chemically blackend railings were rivited to the body as were front and end rails. It also had a 3-position directional E-unit whose control lever protruds from the left side of the engine body. There are headlight lenses at the ends of the body, but no interior lighting.
This unit was only available for separate sale beginning in 1955 until 1957, and was never sold in any set. Broken or cracked window struts often occur on this type of unit, so the collector should check for this fault.
