The Lionel No. 54 Ballast Tamper

The No. 54 Ballastt TamperThe No. 54 Ballast Tamper came equipped with one BLUE man in the cab, YELLOW body with BLACK lettering and one fixed coupler. There was no reverse on this unit, and it went at half speed when the lever was thrown to engage the tamper action. It also came with two track clips to start and stop the "tamping" action automatically.

The ballast tamper was available during the following years: 1958-61, 1966, 1968-69. There was no light on this unit and the antenna on the rear of the unit is easily damaged.
