The Gulf 2-Dome No. 6465 was only available in 1958 on a Type 9 frame. The tri-colored "GULF" herald and the other lettering was rubber-stamped on the tanks. Equipped with AAR trucks with disc couplers, this car is often found in late or bold classic boxes that have either a "-60" or "-85" suffix attached to the number. These suffixes have nothing to do with these cars and why Lionel used them is a mystery. There are three variations:

Variation A: unpainted BLACK tank.

Variation B: painted BLACK tank.

Variation C: painted GRAY tank. The most common variation.
