The Lionel Lines 2-Dome No. 6465 began production with a Type 9 frame in 1959, and was also available from 1963 through 1966. The 1959 variation (A) had an unpainted BLACK tank and came in the Alaska set No. 1611 and is marginally scarcer. The other variations involved the disc couplers on the AAR trucks. One came with one disc coupler and one dummy coupler, and the other (C), came in a box labeled "6465-160," had two disc couplers and was available for separate sale in 1964. None of these variations are rarer than the others.
