Lionel Trains Allis-Chalmers Scraper Flat Car No. 6817 Variation A No. 6817 Box End

Lionel Trains Allis-Chalmers Scraper Flat Car No. 6817The Allis-Chalmers Scraper Flat Car No. 6817 was available in 1959 and 1960. Produced on a BLACK 6424-11, Die 4 or RED 6511-2 mold, and this car has its WHITE number to the left of the LIONEL side inscription. Came with early AAR trucks and disc couplers. There are two types of scrapers:

Type 1: WHITE "Allis-Chalmers" is heat-stamped on the main frame of the scraper and has raised BLACK letters on the engine hood. Came with a wire frame windshield.
Type 2: All heat-stamped lettering has been removed as has the windshield. This is the more commonly found version.

The scraper is very delicate and is difficult to find undamaged. It was available for separate sale and is usually found in a WHITE box with the number 6817-100 stamped on the ends.

There are three variations:

No. 6817-100 Box End

Variation A: was produced on a RED 6511-2 mold that came with a Type 2 scraper.

Variation B: was produced on a RED 6424-11 mold that came with a Type 2 scraper.

Variation C: was produced on a BLACK 6424-11 with either type of scaper. This variation is rare.
