Lionel Trains Ammunition Dump No. 943The Lionel Ammunition Dump No. 943 would explode when struck with an IRBM (Intermediate Range Ballistic Missile) that was launched from the No. 443, No. 470 Missle Launching Platform, or No. 6650 IRBM Missile Launcher Flat Car. This was caused by a spring mechanism located in the interior of the ammo dump. It was mounted on a GRAY metal base with four plastic pieces that formed the dump.

Lionel put a lot of effort and money into creating this accessory because every component part is unique to this Ammo Dump. Becuase this Ammo Dump was shipped unassembled it required an ORANGE picture box even when it was included with the No. 443 Missile Launching Platform.

Produced from 1959 until 1961, this accessory came with one of two different instruction sheets both of them are dated 9/59 and numbered 943-11. One of these sheets has BLACK print on WHITE paper and the other has BLUE print on WHITE paper. The later sheet’s front page is shown below. There are no known variations.
