LIONEL TRAINS OPERATING FORK LIFT PLATFORM No. 264 |
The Operating Fork Lift Platform No. 264 was available from 1957 until 1960 and it was one of the last of the unloading accessories that Lionel made during the post war period. Similar in operation to the Lionel Milk Cars, the lumber would be loaded manually on to the No. 6264 Lumber Car which came with the platform. |
Once the stakes were removed from the unloading side of the car the busy fork lift operator would unload lumber (No. 264-11) from this car and place them on the platform. Twelve pieces of this lumber were included with the fork lift and were also available for separate sale under the number 264-150 and were contained in envelope No. 264-151. The No. 264-30 Envelope was included with this accessory and is illustrated below. |
This accessory has a BLACK metal base and it came with a plastic BROWN platform and ORANGE fork lift with BLUE man and a WHITE crane similar to what was used on the No. 464 Operating Lumber Mill. A No. 90 Controller was included and was used to control the unloading of the flat car. |

Also, it suggests that if there is hesitation in the operation of the fork lift then the surfaces should be cleaned. Lubricants of any type should not be used. Lionel deemed these instructions vital to the proper operation of this accessory. |
