The Gantry Signal Bridge No. 452 would display either one of the RED or GREEN lamps that were housed in a signal head that was reversible. This signal used a 153C Contactor that would be placed beneath the track and would be activated by the weight of a passing train.
Produced from 1961 until 1963, this signal bridge was of metal construction that was mounted on a plastic base that had a metal grip for fastening the unit to the track to prevent it from falling over. Essentially, this accessory is one-half of the No. 450 Signal Bridge.
The instruction sheet that was included did not specifically cover this gantry bridge, but included other accessories that Lionel was producing at the time that used the No. 153C Contactor. Numbered 452-13, this instruction sheet is a six page fold out that was dated 4-61, 3-62, and 6/65, and was printed in BLACK ink on WHITE paper. Also reported is a sheet that used BROWN ink. For additional details see No. 153C Contactor.
Housed in an ORANGE Display Box, this accessory is rarely found today with the box intact and complete with the clear mylar used to display the gantry bridge. There are no variations.
