The Lubricant & Maintenance Kit No. B5159 First available as the No. 5159 that was first shown in the racing section of the 1963 catolog. When released in 1966 in the blister packaging, designed to be hung from a dealers rack, the B5159 replaced the No. 5159. This issue was also accompanied by a similar kit for the slot car racing market. We’ve shown pictures of both of these packages above. The kit with the packaging printed for use with Lionel trains was additionally available in 1968 and 1969 the last year of the Post War Period. This version, with a "-50" suffix may have been concerned with the BROWN box packaging that was used for the No. 5159.
Unlike the No. 928 that the No. 5159 superceded in 1964, this version of the maintenance kit did not contain the metal Track Clean container which by this time was being sold separately in a blister pack under the No. B3927.
The contents of the B5159 are:
A small squeeze bottle of Track Clean.
An abrasive track cleaning eraser similiar to a "Bright Boy."
A tube of lubiricant that is marked "For Model Trains And Racing Cars."
An oiler that has no writing on it.
An instruction sheet that is similar to what was issued with the No. 5159.
Note: We strongly urge you not to use the tube of Lubricant on your Lionel equipment. This grease becomes solid with heat and age and interferes with the proper operating of Lionel engines and equipment.
