Lionel Trains Barrels No. 0209Barrels No. 0209 was a carry over from the Pre-War Era where they were available between 1930 and 1942. They were issued during the Post War Period between 1946 and 1950 and consisted of a set of six barrels that were 1-1/8" high and 1" in diameter at the four bands that circled these barrels.

Some of the barrels that were issued in 1945 with the No. 2452 Gondola Car, that was a component of Set No. 463W, were of the rare two-piece type that separated at one of the internal bands to reveal a hollowed out center. In addition, some barrels have been found without one of the end bands. However these types of barrels are located, finding a box in which to house them that is in good condition is difficult.

No. 0209 Box End

These earlier unstained barrels were replaced by the No. 362-78 when the No. 362 Barrel Loader was issued in 1952. There are two variations:

Variation A: Two-piece barrels usually found with the No. 2452 Gondola Car.

Variation B: Solid unstained barrels that are often included with the No. 6462 early gondola cars.
