The Lionel Hudson Type 4-6-4-Locomotive No. 2056 would replace the No. 2046 in 1952. This was the only year that this locomotive was available and this was because of the Korean War shortages that would result in this engine not having Magnetraction. It shares the same boiler casting, that was based on a New York Central prototype, with the No. 646 and the No. 2046 and is rubber-stamped in SILVER "2056" on the sides of the cab.
The engine has a smoke unit, and a three position direction control unit that has a lever that protudes through the top of the boiler right in front of the cab.
It came with a No. 2046W tender that has a water scoop, whistle unit, and is heat-stamped "LIONEL LINES" on the sides. It also has bar-end trucks with one magnetic coupler.
