The Lionel Lines Hudson Type 4-6-4-Locomotive No. 2065 with its distinctive feed water heater was a welcome addition to Lionel’s fleet of 027 locomotives in 1954. Based on a Santa Fe prototype, this engine was equipped with Magnetraction, smoke, drive rod connecting rod valve gear, and there was a whistle in the tender. This locomotive is identical to the No. 665 except for the number change. It shares the same boiler casting with the O Gauge No. 685 and the O27 Gauge No. 2055.
There are three variations:
Variation A: WHITE Rubber-stamped number on boiler, with a No. 6026W or No. 2046W tender that have bar-end trucks without a tabbed coupler. Produced in 1954.
Variation B: WHITE Heat-stamped number on boiler, with a No. 6026W or No. 2046W streamlined tender that have bar-end trucks without a tabbed coupler. Produced in 1955.
Variation C: WHITE Heat-stamped number on boiler, with a No. 6026W square tender that has bar-end trucks and a tabbed coupler. Produced in 1956.
This No. 2065 engine shares that same trailing truck that has plastic sides with the No. 2055.
