The Lionel Lines Manhattan Car No. 2628 was created on a BLACK bakelite body that was painted TUSCAN and has WHITE heat-stamped lettering. It came with Type VI six-wheel trucks that have electronic coil couplers. There are three variations:
Variation A: The first "L" in "LIONEL LINES" is located to the left of the first window in the center group of windows. This variation came with plain window inserts and the electronic coil couplers are usually not taped. The wires for the interior lights are visible underneath the chassis. Available from 1946 until 1948. Note: That the above illustrated example has been fitted with people silhouetted window inserts.
Variation B: The first "L" in "LIONEL LINES" is located to the left of the first window in the center group of windows. This variation came with plain window inserts and the electronic coil couplers are taped. The wires for the interior lights are not visible underneath the chassis and pass through the frame above the trucks. Available in 1949.
Variation C: The first "L" in "LIONEL LINES" is usually located over the left window in the center group of windows. This variation came with people silhouetted window inserts and the electronic coil couplers are taped. The wires for the interior lights are not visible underneath the chassis and pass through the frame above the trucks. Available in 1950. |
