The Turbo Missile Launching Car No. 3349 would launch its "wheel shaped turbo missile" manually from a spring mechanism. This car was pictured in the catalogs with a number on the side, but it was only produced between 1962 and 1965 with no inscription. Unlike the No. 3309 the No. 3349 came with an extra turbo missile holder and missile. The frame was based on the No. 3650 depressed center Searchlight flat car and this version has no mold number.
Listed in the 1963 catalog as No. 3349-100, there is no justification for this sub-number, save for the fact that while this car was in production there were three different instruction sheets that were issued. All were dated 7-62 under the No. 3349-8 and an additional sheet has been discovered that carries the No. 3349-105 and is dated 4-63. This unmarked car came with early AAR trucks that have disc couplers. There is two variations:
Variation A: RED car body.
Variation B: DARKER RED car body. |
