The Operating Brakeman Car No. 3424 was introduced in 1956 and used a Type IIB 6464 series box car body. It would remain in the catalogs until 1958.
The Operating Brakeman Car came center rail and sliding shoe pickups on Type 7 trucks with magnetic couplers. All cars included two telltales (No. 3424-100) with track trips that triggered the man to "drop down" to avoid hitting the telltales. The fingers on these telltales are very fragile and are often found bent.
Reproductions of the telltales exist, but care should be taken when replacing these fragile parts. There are two variations:
Variation A: has DARK BLUE plastic body and had a DARK BLUE brakeman.
Variation B: later issues would be in a MEDIUM BLUE color with a WHITE brakeman. |
