The Monon Operating Box Car No. 3494-550 was produced in 1957 and 1958 on an unpainted Type IIB MAROON body with Multi-Block doors and a WHITE painted stripe. WHITE heat-stamped lettering on MAROON and MAROON heat-stamped "THE HOOSIER LINE" on the WHITE stripe. This operating box car is actually numbered "3494550," on the car and came with bar end trucks that have tabbed couplers.
Rubberized man is activated by a plunger mechanism that is triggered by the use of a UCS or No. 6019 Uncoupling track.
There are two variations:
Variation A: As described above.
Variation B: Has a faded or not visible production date "BLT 6-57 / BY LIONEL" caused by deterioration of the heat stamp die.
Because this car was never issued as part of a set it is difficult to find and is highly prized by collectors today. |
