Lionel Trains AEC Security Flat Car No. 3535The AEC Security Car No. 3535 was a modified body of the No. 520 Box Cab Electric and was used with Lionel’s space and military sets that were issued in 1960 and 1961 as a caboose. The RED body was mounted on a BLACK 6511-2 flat car mold that is not marked. The markings instead were heat-stamped in WHITE on the cab. This car came with early AAR trucks equipped with disc couplers.

The SILVER based GRAY topped searchlight, that was used on No. 3620 that employed Lionel’s vibrating mechanism to rotate, was used on this car. The searchlight assembly is mounted on a shock resistant frame attached to the deck of the flat car. Slots were cut in this car to mount the cab without the use of screws and this cab covers an electrical junction for the wires from the searchlight and the center rail pick-up roller.

The twin gun on the roof of the cab was borrowed from the PYRO military trucks that were used on the No. 6804 and No. 6809 and was modified to fit in a bracket that rotates. The searchlight, gun and bracket are the parts that are most frequently found missing. Reproductions of these parts are available. There are no variations.
