Lionel Trains Log Flat Car No. 6411The Log Car No. 6411 was available from 1948 until 1950. It seems that there are always exceptions to the production sequences employed by Lionel and the No. 6411 is one of these. 1948 marked the year that Lionel introduced the magnetic coupler in their O27 sets. This change was distinguished by a change in the numbering for the cars that used these new couplers.

As these 2400 series cars moved to this new coupler the number was changed to the 6400 series. However, in 1948 Lionel also used this car in the O Gauge Set No. 1449WS and the cars that appeared in this set still used the electronic coil couplers. Other than the change of couplers this car is the same as the No. 2411.

This flat car was created on a die-cast frame with the number "6411" rubber stamped on the bottom. It came with eight stakes, three MEDIUM BROWN logs, two brake wheels, four steps, and end railings. The brake wheels, steps, and railings are often found either bent, broken, or missing. There are four variations:

Variation A: Came with staple-end trucks equipped with electronic coil couplers. 1948 production.

Variation B: Came with staple-end trucks equipped with magnetic couplers. 1948-50 production.

Variation C: Identical to Variation B except DARK GRAY color similar to what is seen on the No. 6419 and No. 6420 Work Caboose chassis.

Variation D: Identical to Variation B except with sans-serif lettering on the sides.
