Girder Bridge Car No. 6418 was produced between 1955 and 1957 on a die-cast chassis with no number on the sides. However, early cars would have the number imprinted on the underside, but when Lionel introduced the Transformer Car No. 6518 in 1956 that used the same chassis, this number had to be removed. All subsequent editions would have the number of the car on the load that it carried. This car had bar-end trucks and the latter issues would have tabbed couplers. There are nine variations of this car:
Variation A: Car number molded on the underside and came with two BLACK girders with "LIONEL" in raised letters that have the top surfaces painted WHITE.
Variation B: Same as Variation A except came with two ORANGE girders with no painting of the "LIONEL" raised lettering.
Variation C: Same as Variation B except came with two ORANGE girders that have been painted GRAY.
Variation D: Same as Variation B except the raised surfaces of the "LIONEL" lettering are painted WHITE. |
