The Lubricating & Maintenance Kit No. 928 was available from 1960 until 1963. Essentially, it was a cut-down version of the No. 927 and consisted of the following items:

A No. 3927-75 Can of Track Cleaning Solvent
A not numbered Vial of Lubricating Oil
A No. 925-1 Tube of Lubricant
A not numbered "Bright Boy" Eraser Type Track Cleaner

These items were held in place by a card stock insert located in the interior of the box. This ORANGE picture box is rarely found with the clear mylar and all of the contents complete and intact.

A No. 928-13 instruction sheet was issued with this set on two different occassions. The sheet dated 8-60 uses BLACK ink on PINK paper and the sheet dated 3-62 uses BLACK ink on GREEN paper. There are no known variations.

Note: We strongly urge you not to use the tube of Lubricant (No. 925-1) on your Lionel equipment. This grease becomes solid with heat and age and interferes with the proper operating of Lionel engines and equipment.

Engine Lubricating Instruction Sheet No. 1123-20

The below sheet was first issued in 1961 and came in set No. 1123 among others that were sold later. Also issued was a sheet numbered 1123-40 which showed how to lubricate the truck wheels on the Lionel cars. This sheet specifically references the No. 928 Lubricating and Maintenance Kit which is why we’ve listed it here.
