The Lionel Controller No. 96C was an integral part of many accessories. This switch was used to trigger the No. 30 an 38 Water Towers, No. 313 Bascule Bridge, and some of the early operating cars like the No. 3562 Operating Barrel Car.
Like the No. 88 Controller this switch has a stamped steel body, but this switch is "normally off" and the electrical current only passes through the switch to operate the accessories when the button is pushed. The electrical wire binding posts are on 1" centers like the early issues of the No. 88.
This switch was not sold separately and no independent box to house it has ever been found.
