This is one of the first structures introduced by Bachmann and its production spanned over three decades. RS-7 was the first designation given to this station when it was first released in 1950, and on the box it was labeled "Passenger Station."

The following year Bachmann would release the RS-8 station, and later issues would rename it the "Suburban Station," which would remain its title until production ceased in the 1980’s. In addition, the box for the RS-7 is about one inch taller than the RS-8. This is because in the earlier issue there was a one inch tall box insert that is located beneath the contents. The RS-8 box would not have this insert.

Aside from the No. RS-7 box, the No. 1706 box is the rarest of these boxes having only been available from 1964 through 1966.

Below are shown the parts that are often found missing for this station along with the color variations.

The Last Hurrah
spacer
The last issue of this station occurred in the mid 1980’s. The 1954 box was issued in 1980, followed by the number 45954 box. There is no difference between the two kits other than these numbers. These issues would have the solid BROWN colored platform with MEDIUM GRAY doors and roof. No other Plasticville item is more associated with the classic post war period than is this structure. Especially, the early GREEN roofed RS-7 and RS-8 kits.

Common Fault
spacer
This station is the one Plasticville structure that was most often found beneath a Christmas tree. As such, it is sometimes found with Christmas tree flocking material that has been sprayed on it. This sprayed on material is just about impossible to completely clean and it also permanently scars the plastic rendering the structure almost entirely without value.

If you own one of these damaged structures, it would be worth your time and effort to replace it with one that has not been so marred. NEVER use this "simulated snow" on any Plasticville structure or accessory.
