Lionel Trains FA AA Unit DieselsThe Lionel Union Pacific FA No. 2033 was available from 1952 until 1954. It lacked the BLACK stripes and DARK GRAY roof that defined the C Variation of the No. 2023. Produced on a YELLOW shell that was painted SILVER, the powered unit was equipped with Magnetraction, a horn that was operated by a D Cell battery, and a three position directional unit whose control lever was adjustable from underneath the chassis. A single vertical worm drive motor powers two axles and the lettering was heat-stamped on these units. A premium is paid today for units whose paint is bright with little of the YELLOW plastic showing through the paint. There are two variations:

Variation A: The body has a smooth roof over motor area.

Variation B: The body has a small round raised area over the motor.

All of the Lionel Alco FA units are designed to work on the tighter radius of O27 gauge track, but they will run equally well on O gauge track.
