The Lionel Santa Fe FA No. 215 was issued uncataloged in 1965 and would head up several sets available through Sears and J.C. Penny Co. It was also available from J.C. Penny as part of Set. No. X924-8279A in 1966. Consisted in various combinations of AA and AB units. Painted in the Santa Fe war bonnet paint scheme, it was equipped with one traction tire on the power truck. A two position directional unit whose control lever was adjustable from the top of the body controled the direction of this diesel. A single vertical worm drive Type IIIB motor powers two axles. The lettering was heat-stamped on these units and the sheet metal chassis have solid non-operating couplers. There are two variations:

Variation A: Came with a powered A Unit and a No. 218C dummy B unit. The B unit can come with, or without the "BLT 8-57" date. The illustration to the right shows the lack of the "8-57" date. To see an illustration of the other type of built date imprint see No. 218.

Variation B: Came with a powered A Unit and a No. 212T or No. 215T dummy A unit.
