The A.T. & S.F. No. X3464 was available beginning in 1949. This ORANGE operating box car has BLACK heat-stamped lettering, and there are many minor variations of this car, including the types of trucks that were used. Early versions would have staple-end trucks, while later variations would have bar-end trucks with magnetic couplers. Cars that were manufactured early in 1949 have BROWN doors, all of the other cars have BLACK doors. It was last produced in 1952, and the following year Lionel would issue the first of the 10-1/2" operating box cars beginning with the No. 3484.
