Lionel Trains Missile Firing Range Set No. 448The Missile Firing Range Set No. 448 was available from 1961 until 1963. Lionel created a TAN plastic base and mounted a GRAY launching mechanism that was similar to what was used on the No. 6544 Missile Firing Car and, like the car, it would launch the missiles in order by rotating the knurled RED wheel.

This accessory came a No. 6448 exploding target car.

No. 448 Box End

Included with this accessory was an unmarked bag of lichen (No. 448-5) that was used to "camouflage" the launcher. This is a difficult accessory to locate, especially with the No. 448-7 ORANGE picture box.

Lionel showed this accessory in both the catalogs and the instruction sheet, No. 448-6 dated 8-61, as having a man at the control panel, but it was not produced this way. It is also shown in the Lionel Service Manual as having controls and gauges on the control panel similar to the 6544 but this also was not produced this way. This was probably done to reduce production cost. There are no variations.
