Pipe Car No. 6511 A Variation Pipe Car No. 6511 D Variation

Lionel Trains Pipe Flat Car No. 6511The Pipe Car No. 6511 was one of the first of this type of flat car that was made. There are four variations of this car. Three of these have to do with the color of the car, and all but one variation was produced with stamped steel truck mounting plates on Type 6511-2 Die 1B bodies. Illustrated above are the BRICK RED variation A and the BROWN variation D. Available from 1953 until 1956, this car was equipped with bar-end trucks, and later issues would have tabbed couplers. It came with five SILVER colored plastic pipes and 13 stakes. Also see: Pipe Flat Car No. 6311.
