The Lionel Hudson Type 4-6-4-Locomotive No. 665 with its distinctive feed water heater was a welcome addition to Lionel’s fleet of O gauge locomotives in 1954. Based on a Santa Fe prototype, this engine was equipped with Magnetraction, smoke, drive rod connecting rod valve gear, and there was a whistle in the tender. It came with both rubber and heat-stamped numbering of the cab and it shared the same boiler casting with the O27 gauge No. 2055 and No. 2065. There are three variations:

Variation A: Came with a No. 6026W tender that had bar-end trucks without a tabbed coupler. Produced in 1954 and 1955.

Variation B: Came with a No. 2046W tender that have bar-end trucks with a tabbed coupler. Produced from 1956 until 1959.

Variation C: Heat-stamped number on cab and came with a No. 736W tender lettered "PENNSYLVANIA" that has late AAR trucks with a with one disc coupler. Produced in 1966.
