The Searchlight Car No. 6822 was built on a RED No. 6511 flat car chassis.

The lighting unit that was placed on top of this car was lettered "TRACK / MAINTENANCE" and also had simulated shovels, oxygen tanks and wire rolls. This car has AAR trucks and there are three variations:

Variation A: BLACK lighting unit with a GRAY searchlight housing and AAR trucks with disc couplers.

Variation B: GRAY lighting unit with BLACK searchlight housing. This later issue would have AAR trucks with one disc and one solid coupler.

Variation C: Is a scare 1966 version that was heat-stamped "6828" in error.

This searchlight car was available from 1961 until the end of the post-war period in 1969. MPC released this car in the Modern Era without the attendant.
