The Missile Storage Car No. 6844 was issued in 1959 and 1960, and used mold 6424-11, Die 1 and Die 4. WHITE heat stamped lettering "LIONEL" and "6844" on a BLACK car (A Variation) and RED car (B Variation). Equipped with early AAR trucks and disc couplers.

Because of the rarity of the RED variation, forgeries have been created out of an unnumbered RED flat car by adding the GRAY superstructure! Buyers should examine the number "6844" to verify that it is heat stamped into the plastic body.
