The Lionel Union Pacific Alco FA No. 2033 was listed in the Lionel consumer catalogs from 1952 until 1954.
These units lacked the BLACK stripes and DARK GRAY roof that defined the No. 2023 Variation C.
Both units were lighted, have headlight lenses, and they also have raised number marker boards.
Produced on a YELLOW shell that was painted SILVER, the powered unit came equipped with Magnetraction and a horn that was operated by a D Cell battery.
A three position directional unit whose control lever was adjustable from underneath the SILVER painted chassis controls the direction of a single vertical worm drive motor that powers two axles.
The BLACK lettering was heat-stamped on these units.
These Alco units were only housed in a corregated carton that contained both the power and the dummy A units.
There are two variations:
Variation A: The body has a smooth roof over motor area.
Variation B: The body has a small round raised area over the motor.
A premium is paid today for units whose paint is bright with little of the YELLOW plastic showing through the paint. |
