The Lionel Lines Westfield Pullman Car No. 2482 was available only in 1950 as part of Set No. 1464W that is commonly referred to as the 50th Anniversary Set that was headed up by the YELLOW No. 2023 Union Pacific Alco FA diesels.
Produced on a YELLOW painted body that has a GRAY roof with RED stripes and window trim and RED heat-stamped lettering. This car was based on the standard Pullman prototype of the time. It is lighted by two lamps that are held in place by metal brackets that are also used to hold the roof to the body. This was the first of the 2400 Series cars that have people silhouettes on the interior window inserts. It came with Type IV die-cast four-wheel passenger trucks equipped with electronic coil couplers. There are no variations.
Issued in an O27 Gauge set, this car will operate equally well on Lionel’s wider radius O Gauge track. Note: Collectors would be advised to check the alignment of the roof. Many of these early 2400 Series cars have the roof installed backwards at the Lionel factory. This places undue stress on the metal brackets that hold the roof in place. The rain shield end of the roof should be above the end of the car that has the doors. |
