The State of Maine Operating Box Car No. 3494-275 was first produced in 1956 and would be cataloged until 1958 on Type IIB bodies, Multi-Block doors that were created specifically for the No. 6464-275, and painted WHITE and RED stripes on a BLUE plastic body with BLACK and WHITE heat stamped lettering.
Rubberized man is activated by a plunger mechanism that is triggered by the use of a UCS or No. 6019 Uncoupling track.
There are two variations:
Variation A: Early 1956 production that shows only a BLACK "B.A.R." imprint in the WHITE stripe second panel. The number "3494275" is missing, nor is there a line underscore and a line overscore. Equipped with Bar-end trucks.
Variation B: Is imprinted "B.A.R. / 3494275" on the second panel with over and underscores. Came with Bar-end trucks. Later versions would have coupler tabs on Bar-end trucks. The last year of production saw this car produced with early AAR trucks. Produced from late 1956 to 1958.
