The Jet Boat Car No. 6501 was available in 1962 and 1963. The car, which used a 6511-2 mold, was not numbered. The boat is WHITE with a BROWN deck and is held in place by GRAY brackets that are mounted on the chassis and an elastic band No. 6418-9. The band is often missing, however, reproductions are available.
This boat, when filled with baking soda and mixed with water, would provide a means of propulsion when it was placed in water. This flat car came with AAR trucks and disc couplers, but it is sometimes found with one non-operating coupler as is illustrated above.
Came in an ORANGE picture box and approximately forty sodium bicarbonate pellets that were sealed in a clear package. A premium is added to the value of this car if the original packaging and the instructions are present. There are no variations. |
