Range Patrol Flat Car No. 6151 was produced by Lionel in 1958 on a stamped steel chassis. Rubber-stamped "LIONEL" in BLACK serif letters are printed on the car’s sides. It came with a Range Patrol truck that was made by Pyro specifically for Lionel. The truck has a WHITE cab with BLACK heat-stamped lettering and a BLACK rear box like superstructure that is heat-stamped with WHITE lettering and a "long horn" symbol.
This metal flat car has the slots for a load cradle but there is no cradle. See No. 6111 for a picture of what this cradle looked like. A No. 6418-9 elastic band holds the truck to the car. It came with early AAR trucks with disc couplers. There are three variations:
Variation A: YELLOW ORANGE colored car.
Variation B: LIGHT YELLOW car.
Variation C: CREAM colored car.
What is really amazing about this car is that for only one year of production it has been found in five different styles of boxes. We’ve shown two of these above. |
